Located in the demarcated region of Bucelas, one of the oldest Portuguese designations of origin, the only one where only white and sparkling wines have the right to the Denomination of Origin (DOC) and where Arinto is the grape variety of excellence.
Determined to follow a policy of quality in the wines produced, Caves Velhas (which would later become part of the Enoport Wines Group) decided to acquire, in May 1983, Quinta do Boição, whose owners had always sold them their production, thus guaranteeing constant quality in the production of their Bucelas wines.

Quinta do Boição is located in Bucelas, next to the Ribeira do Boição, and is part of the famous Bucelas Demarcated Region, about 25 km from Lisbon, with good access via the A8 and A9 highways. Located between the banks of the Ribeira do Boição and the Trancão River, it has a total area of 45 hectares, of which 32.5 hectares are vineyards. The soils are clay-limestone, with an altitude between 87m and 180m and good sun exposure.
The vineyards are not irrigated, as the soil is naturally moistened. The climate is quite cold in winter, but hot and dry in summer, with a certain amount of humidity at night, creating a microclimate that is favourable to the perfect balance between sugars and acidity, giving the white wines of this region a lively quality that is typical. Most of the cultivation practices are entirely manual, such as pruning, trellising and the harvest itself, which makes these wines special and of great quality.

Of the 32.5 hectares of vineyards, 22 hectares are planted with white grape varieties, namely Arinto, with 1 ha of Chardonnay and 10.5 hectares planted with red grape varieties, 2.5 hectares of which are old vines over 50 years old and not wired, and the remaining 8 hectares with Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Syrah, Caladoc and Merlot. These vineyards give rise to the Quinta do Boição range and the renowned Caves Velhas Bucelas.
